About My Blog and I

Why this Blog?

I wanted to write this climate change blog to connect everything I love. For me, that’s dance, crochet, writing, science, and traveling to name a few. Those sound really unrelated, don’t they? Well, all of my passions are affected by (and affect!) climate change.  Here’s an example- I love crochet, but crocheting a stuffed animal with plastic bags makes it better for the environment, which also makes that project so much cooler! See, my big breakthrough was that if I combine any of my passions with climate change, suddenly they become 10x cooler! Here’s another example- what if I made that stuffed animal I just talked about, and THEN wrote about it? Adding another thing I love (writing) into the mix makes it double in coolness. Now, imagine I combined all of my interests WITH climate change, on a BLOG, which shares its coolness with everybody… well, that equals a much cooler world for everyone! (temperature-wise too, pun intended)

All About Me!

My name is Madeleine, named after the cookie, but everyone calls me Maddy. I’m in seventh grade, and I’ve been interested in environmental science since pre-school. I’ve always wanted to be a superhero to the world after watching doctor who with my family. Around the third grade, I bought a plain white notebook and wrote a “book” about climate change and how to stop it. Even now, I want to teach kids about climate change in a fun way, and I created my blog to do just that.

Who is This Blog For?

This blog is for KIDS! There aren’t enough blogs that are written BY and FOR kids. So many of them are angled to adults, so they’re written in fancy words and language that makes information not make sense to kids like me yet. Why show information in a way that’s not kid-friendly when us kids are going to be the ones living in a climate-changed world? Plus, other resources are so pessimistic and never really tell me about what WE can do about it except watch. Those blogs are great for adults, but kids have to learn stuff too. So come read this KID-FRIENDLY blog if you want to learn more about how to help the earth and our future through fun science articles
